JAPANESE GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME

The Monbukagakusho (Ministry of Education, Culture, Science, and Technology, Government of Japan: MEXT) is offering scholarships to students of graduate level to study at a Japanese university:

TERM:

Research students: 2 years from April 2012 to March 2014

or 1 and 1/2 years from October 2012 to March 2014

Degree students: until the master or doctoral course will be completed. Departure for Japan April or October 2012

* the first 6 months will be devoted to studying the Japanese language.

FIELDS OF STUDY:

Humanities and Social Sciences: Literature, History, Aesthetics, Law, Politics, Economics, Commerce, Pedagogy, Psychology, Sociology, Music, Fine Arts etc.

Natural Sciences: Pure science, Engineering, Agriculture, Fisheries, Pharmacology, Medicine, Dentistry, Home Economics, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS:

(1) Nationality: Kosovo

(2) Age: Under 35 as of 1st April 2012 (i.e. those born on or after 2nd April 1977)

(3) Academic background: University or college graduate (those who will definitely graduate from a university or college by March or September 2012 may apply).

(4) Study Area: A field the applicant has studied (or is now studying) or a related one.

Please note that scholars are not allowed to study a subject in Japan which is NOT related to the subject they graduated in at their home university.

(5) Japanese Language: Applicants must be eager to study the Japanese language.

SCHOLARSHIP BENEFITS:

(1) Monthly allowance: approximately 150.000 Japanese Yen

(amounts might be subject to change)

(2) Flight ticket (Kosovo – Japan - Kosovo)

(3) School fees

(4) Student accommodation will be arranged by JASSO (Japan Student
Organization)

Monbukagakusho (Ministria e Arsimit, Kultures, Shkencës dhe Teknologjisë, Qeveria e Japonisë: MEXT) ofron bursa për studentët e nivelit të diplomuar për studime në Universitetet e Japonisë:

KUSHTI:

Studentët hulumtues: 2 vite nga Prilli 2012 deri në Mars 2014

ose 1 dhe 1/2 vite nga Tetor 2012 deri në Mars 2014

Studentët e diplomuar: deri sa studimet për master ose doktoraturë do të përfundojnë. Nisja për Japoni: Prill ose Tetor 2012.

* 6 muajt e parë do të jenë të përkushtuar për të studiuar gjuhën japoneze.

FUSHAT E STUDIMIT:

Shkencat Humane dhe Sociale: Letërsi, Histori, Estetikë, Drejtësi, Politikë, Ekonomi, Tregti, Pedagogji, Psikologji, Sociologji, Muzikë, Arte të bukura etc.

Shkencave Natyrore: Shkencë e pastër, Inxhinjeri, Bujqësi, Peshkim, Farmakologji, Mjekësi, Stomatolgji, Ekonomi familjare, etj.

KUALIFIKIMET:

(1) Nacionaliteti: Kosovë

(2) Mosha: nën 35 që nga 1 Prilli 2012 (p.sh. ata të lindur më ose pas 2 Prillit 1977)

(3) Kualifikimi akademik: Universiteti ose kolegji universitar (ata të cilët patjetër do të diplomojnë nga një universitet apo kolegj deri në Mars ose Shtator 2012 mund të aplikojnë).

(4) Fusha e studimit: Një fushë që aplikanti ka studiuar (ose është tash duke studiuar) ose të ngjashme.

Ju lutem vini re se aplikuesit nuk janë të lejuar për të studiuar një lëndë në Japoni e cila NUK është e lidhur me lëndën të cilën kanë studiuar në në Universitetin e tyre në shtëpi.

(5) Gjuha Japoneze: Aplikantët duhet të jenë të gatshëm për të studiuar gjuhën japoneze

NOTES FOR APPLICANTS

CHECK:

Before submitting your preliminary application please ensure that you have included the following:

1 One application form filled out in English.

2. A typewritten description of your proposed studies in approximately 600 words in English.

3. A curriculum vitae in English

4. A copy of your university degree certificate (and English translation).

5. A list of all your university exam grades (and English translation) including your grade average.

6. (for those majoring in fine arts or music) A photograph showing your own work of art or a recorded tape of a musical performance.

7. A letter of reference from a professor in English (your academic supervisor)

8. A certificate of employment issued by your employer in English (if applicable).

9. A photocopy of the first 2 pages of your passport.

TIMETABLE:

(1) Initial applications to be submitted to the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology by May 13, 2011 at the latest. Applications arriving after this date will not be considered.

(2) End of May 2011: Selected candidates will receive a letter of invitation to an interview (June 2011) at the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology preceded by a language test (Japanese or, if the applicant has no prior knowledge of Japanese, English). At the interview, first-choice and alternative candidates will be selected for recommendation to the Monbukagakusho. These candidates will receive the official Monbukagakusho application forms.

(3) December 2011: successful applicants will be notified of their acceptance by Monbukagakusho as scholarship candidates.

(4) One or two months before departure, i.e. March 2012 or September 2012: candidates will be given notification of their final acceptance, once their chosen Japanese university has confirmed with Monbukagakusho that a suitable placement is available.

ESTABLISHING CONTACT WITH A JAPANESE UNIVERSITY:

(1) Applicants have to first find a suitable Japanese university for carrying out their study project by the time of the interview in June. It is not necessary to have found a Japanese supervisor until the interview.

(2) A list of universities can be obtained at http://read.jst.go.jp/index_e.html

(3) If applicant cannot propose a suitable university by the time of the interview in June he/she will not be considered as a candidate.

(4) Final placement will be decided by Monbukagakusho. No objection by the grantee shall be made regarding the university placement.
